The Black Caps have lost the wicket of Martin Guptill after making a strong start in the opening hour of the first test against Australia at the Gabba today.
Guptill and fellow opener Brendon McCullum put on 44 for the opening wicket before the Aucklander was caught behind by Brad Haddin off the bowling of Peter Siddle for 13.
Earlier New Zealand captain Ross Taylor won the toss and decided to bat.
McCullum gave Australian debutant James Pattinson a first over to remember, sending three balls to the boundary. Pattinson's opening four overs went for 25 runs.
Pattinson, David Warner and Mitchell Starc are all making their debuts for Australia.
Guptill fell just before the first hour mark after facing 34 balls at the crease.
