The North Otago senior representative team will play two warm-up games before the Hawke Cup elimination matches, against South Canterbury in Timaru on November 20, and Mid Canterbury in Oamaru on December 4, with a reinstated trophy the prize.
The Richards Trophy will return for competition between Mid Canterbury, South Canterbury and North Otago this season.
The trophy was introduced in the 1952-53 season, donated by the then mayor of Timaru, but ceased with a realignment of zones in the 1996-97 season matches.
The trophy was held by Mid Canterbury at the completion of that season, so the team will be the initial holders. The trophy will be defended on a home and away basis and a first-innings win will be sufficient for the trophy to change hands.
North Otago's Hawke Cup programme is v South Canterbury (December 10-11, Oamaru); v Otago Country (January 14-15, Alexandra); v Southland (January 28-29, Invercargill); and v Mid Canterbury (February 11-12, Ashburton).
