A stunning performance by the Black Jack women's fours team has won New Zealand's third gold medal at the Asia Pacific Bowls Championships.

In another tense transtasman rivalry, the New Zealand women made up of: Leanne Curry, Genevieve Baildon, Jan Khan and Jo Edwards edged out Australia's best, 17-15, on the final end.

In the men's fours, New Zealand came up against an Australian side looking to balance the ledger for their finals defeat in the men's pairs yesterday.

The Australian's played some sublime ends to win 23-16 and leave the Black Jacks with the silver medal.

"It's been a great day and an outstanding result in the women's," national coach Dave Edwards said.

"It's been a very good campaign and we're coming home with six medals."

It was almost shot for shot throughout the women's fours match, a two in the second to last end for New Zealand brought the score even on 15.

With both countries' third gold medal on the line, it was New Zealand who fought harder and took it home.

It was a career highlight for Curry, who said the campaign had been an "experience of a lifetime".

"It's such a brilliant team to be part of, and playing with living legends is pretty magic stuff. It didn't really hit home I was representing New Zealand until two days before we flew over, and I don't think this will sink in for a few days either."

The Black Jacks bring home six medals from the tournament: three gold (men's and women's Pairs and women's fours), one silver (men's fours) and two bronze medals (men's and women's triples).

Results from the finals: Men's Pairs: New Zealand (D. Delany, R. Girvan) defeated Australia (B. Wilkie, M. Casey), 17-16 to win gold medal.
