New Zealand's hosting of a round of the V8 Supercars looks to be in grave danger beyond next year's final ITM 400 in Hamilton.
Politics and resource consent look to have pushed the event out of the country.
V8 Supercars Chairman Tony Cochrane says it's going to be very hard to keep it here.
"Next year will be our last year in Hamilton, and we are disappointed about that, but I can assure fans that we are leaving no stone unturned to make this the best V8 Supercar event ever in New Zealand," he said.
Young New Zealand driver Shane van Gisbergen, who won this year's race, says the event will be missed.
"Hamilton was my first race win, the best day of my career so far," he said.
"It's an event all the drivers love: the track is such great fun, the event is really well managed and shows off Hamilton to the world. I will really miss the place and I know all the other drivers will as well."
Hamilton first hosted a round of the V8 Supercars series in 2008 replacing the Pukekohe 500 which had been a regular fixture of the series from 2001 to 2007.
More to come...
