Hockey: Black Stick Wilson nominated for award

Black Sticks forward Nick Wilson has been nominated for the International Hockey Federation young player of the year award.

The 21-year-old is one of five players nominated for the award. The others are Belgian Florent van Aubel, the Netherlands' Billy Bakker, German Florian Fuchs and Australian Matthew Swann.

Wilson, a Central player based in Palmerston North, is part of a New Zealand team contesting the Owen G Glenn Champions Trophy tournament in Auckland.

The winners of the award will be announced on Saturday during halftime of one of the Champions Trophy matches at North Harbour Hockey Stadium.

Two New Zealand women have also been nominated for a young player of the year award - Charlotte Harrison and Stacey Michelsen.
