New Zealand cyclist Julian Dean will be off the bike for about a week after a crash while training with new Australian team GreenEDGE.
Dean was at the team's training camp in Thredbo on the weekend when he suffered a shoulder blade fracture.
A team spokesman said the seven-time Tour de France veteran would have to stay off his road bike for up to a fortnight, but was keen to return sooner.
He won't not need surgery.
Dean and his teammates will officially become GreenEDGE riders on January 1.
Cycling's world governing body is expected to confirm around December 10 that GreenEDGE has achieved WorldTour status.
