Reigning world champions New Zealand will face Fiji in Saturday's final of the Gold Coast Sevens, first stop on this season's International Rugby Board world circuit.
New Zealand beat hosts Australia 26-7 in one semifinal on Saturday while Fiji recovered from a loss to New Zealand in pool play to beat South Africa 26-7 in its semifinal.
The New Zealanders beat Niue, Kenya and Fiji in pool play on Friday before beating England 24-14 in Saturday's quarterfinals. Frank Halai scored two tries for New Zealand and sealed the result when Lote Raikabula crossed for his sixth try of the tournament less than a minute from fulltime.
Fiji scored four second half tries to beat Wales 33-5 in its quarterfinal after it had led 7-5 at halftime.
