Durham pace bowler Mitchell Claydon will return to play for the Canterbury cricket team in their upcoming Ford Trophy and HRV Cup games.
Claydon had a very successful stint with the Wizards last season, capturing 12 one-day wickets in only five matches. His HRV Cup appearances were limited to a single match due to the presence of other overseas players.
He joins Brendon Diamanti on the playing roster for the Wizards this summer, and Claydon will be available for virtually all of the Ford Trophy and the entire HRV Cup campaign.
He returns to Canterbury after a very successful Twenty20 campaign for Durham in which he was the second-highest wicket-taker for the county in Twenty20 cricket. His one-day figures were even better, capturing 21 wickets to be the second-highest wicket-taker in the country in the Clydesdale Bank 40 [40-over] domestic competition.
"Being able to get Mitchell back with us this season increases the strike power in our bowling attack,'' Wizards' coach Bob Carter said. "Mitchell was a terrific member of our side last season who performed on the park and contributed significantly off the park to our squad. He provides options with the new ball and is a very effective bowler at the end of an innings.''
