Cricket: New Zealand pushes on to 327-5 at lunch

Zimbabwe fought back on day two of the one-off test against New Zealand on Wednesday, but the tourists pushed on to 327-5 by lunch despite the early loss of captain Ross Taylor.

Taylor was out in the second over of the day without adding to his overnight score of 76 and the Black Caps added only 52 runs for the loss of two wickets in the session which was delayed by 45 minutes for a wet pitch after an overnight downpour in Bulawayo.

Taylor edged behind off a wide delivery from debutant seamer Njabulo Ncube, but BJ Watling (39) and Dean Brownlie (27 not out) put together a 45-run stand to continue New Zealand's progress.

Watling hit five fours and Brownlie also on test debut struck three boundaries before the partnership was broken by Chris Mpofu just before lunch.
