New Zealand's Marina Erakovic and Monica Niculescu of Romania lost a close doubles quarter-final at the US$220,000 Luxembourg Open in Luxembourg this morning (Friday, NZ time).
The pair took the first set 7-3 in the tiebreak against fourth seeds Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain and world No 15 Anastasia Pavlyuchenko of Russia.
Medina Garrigues and Pavlyuchenko came back to win the second set 6-4 to level the match and went on to take the super tiebreak 10-5.
Result: Marina Erakovic (NZL)/Monica Niculescu (ROU) lost to Anabel Medina Garrigues (ESP)/Anastasia Pavlyuchenko (RUS) 7-6 (7-3) 4-6 (5-10).
