The misconduct hearing for comments made by Samoa player Eliota Fuimaono Sapolu about referee Nigel Owens on Twitter has been adjourned until Saturday morning.

A release by the international Rugby board said Sapolu had asked for an adjournment "to consider the charges against him and to accommodate a commitment to attend a Samoa government function welcoming back the Manu Samoa team over the weekend''.

Sapolu remains suspended from all rugby until the hearing.

The release said Sapolu had been asked to refrain from further comment on the case "in order to preserve the integrity of the proceedings''. The case will be held in Auckland at 9am on Saturday.
