The bad news for Wales is it has to wait four more years for another shot at the Rugby World Cup.
The good news is it should be an interesting four years.
The Welsh left New Zealand on Saturday, a day after completing their World Cup renaissance by losing to Australia 21-18 and finishing fourth.
Wales' best World Cup since the inaugural tournament in 1987, when it placed third, has supporters anticipating brighter days starting from next year's Six Nations.
Roger Lewis, the Welsh Rugby Union group chief executive, went so far as to say Wales was enjoying its first golden era since the sports went professional, if one was to include the Six Nations Grand Slams in 2005 and 2008.
