One bookmaker refunded Rugby World Cup bets on Wales after captain Sam Warburton's sending off in Saturday's 9-8 loss to France.

Warburton was dismissed for a dangerous tip tackle on French winger Vincent Clerc after 18 minutes played in Auckland, New Zealand.

Bookmaker Paddy Power announced that returning more than 200,000 pounds ($315,000) to punters who had backed Wales to win the match was "only fair as Warburton decision was wrong."

"If that is a sending-off offense then the law is (wrong)," Paddy Power said in a statement. "The Welsh played like heroes but Warburton's red killed the game and Welsh chances.

"Any punter who backed them to win the game never stood a chance after that so hopefully getting their money back will go a small way to soothing Welsh woes over the injustice."
