Italian hooker Leonardo Ghiraldini has received a 15-week ban from rugby for eye-gouging an Irish player during Sunday's World Cup match in Dunedin.
Ghiraldini admitted to a judiciary committee on Monday that he had made contact with the eyes of the player - believed to be prop Cian Healy - while in a maul, but said his actions were not deliberate.
However, the committee found his actions were deliberate and he was given a 15-week suspension.
Ghiraldini's ban ends on January 17.
