It took Twitter-addicted World Cup champion Cory Jane just an hour to get his social networking fix after last night's final when a players' ban on using Twitter was lifted.
"1st things 1st.....I'm back #TwitterWorld and at PACE,'' he tweeted from the Eden Park changing sheds at about midnight after helping the All Blacks to their 8-7 win over France.
Jane, who found himself in trouble for drinking and smoking less than 72 hours before the All Blacks' quarter-final against Argentina, also posted a picture of himself and Zac Guildford enjoying a well-deserved beer after the game.
"Are we aloud 2 drink now???? Or will the media report this haha.''
All Blacks management imposed a ban on team members using social media during the tournament, which saw keen All Black Twitter users Jane, Piri Weepu and Jerome Kaino farewell their followers online at the beginning of September.
It wasn't something they coped all that well with, although they could post tweets on the official All Blacks site.
Jane hoped All Blacks management wouldn't impose a similar ban for future World Cups.
"It finally released a bit a weight off the shoulders by getting back on Twitter. I was struggling," Jane told RadioSport. "Hopefully they don't have a ban now because, Jesus, it took its toll, I'm going grey."
It also didn't take prolific tweeter Adam Thomson long to get back in touch with his followers after the ban was lifted.
"Sorry that I've been so distant lately.. Maybe this will make up for it?
"..drink's sssson me!''
Jerome Kaino tweeted: "World Cup!!!!! Holy!!!!! Love you guys for all your support, missed my Twitter Famz!! Veeedddyyyy Gooooddddd.''
Many fans acknowledged the win as a much-needed boost to the country after a difficult year.
"It's not that the All Blacks who won, but the way NZ has come together once again that makes me proud and teary to be a New Zealander,'' tweeted BexieLad.
"Congrats 2 the All Blacks. Brilliant leadership from Richie and all the senior players including Big Thorny. U boys deserve it,' said steevprice.
Even public enemy No 1 Quade Cooper was quick to congratulate the New Zealand team.
"Congrats to the All Blacks!'' the Wallabies first five-eighths tweeted.
A victory parade will be held in Auckland starting from Queen St at 2.30pm today.
Further parades will follow in Christchurch tomorrow, and Wellington on Wednesday.
